Forget the gas cylinder. The Hot Glow-12 infrared ceramic cooker from Glam Gas runs on electricity, 1.5 units an hour, and heat shows up within seconds of plugging it in. No pilot light to fuss with. No calling around because the cylinder has not arrived yet.
Load shedding has a habit of hitting exactly when dinner needs to start. Skip gas entirely and that problem just stops existing.
Rs. 100 an hour, roughly, keeps the running cost low enough that most people barely think about it. Roti, salan, biryani, mutton, tea, whatever normally lands on a gas stove lands here too, tasting no different. The only thing missing is the actual flame.
No flame. No burner ring. Just a ceramic infrared heating element sitting under the glass, pushing heat straight up into whatever pot sits on top of it.
Gas does this unevenly. A flame licking the bottom of a pan heats the center hotter than the edges, which is exactly why curry catches right where the metal meets the rim. Infrared spreads across the entire base at once instead. Leave a pot of daal simmering for an hour on this and the temperature barely drifts, something an open flame struggles to manage.
Four separate systems keep this cooker safe, not just one.
Soft-touch digital controls replace old-style knobs, which makes adjusting heat mid-cook simple
A child-lock function stops the panel from being triggered by accident, useful in homes with kids around the kitchen
Overheating protection shuts things down automatically before temperatures climb too high
A built-in cooling fan keeps internal parts from overheating during long cooking sessions, like a big pot of daal simmering for an hour
Step away to answer the door mid-cook and nothing bad happens. Temperature management runs in the background on its own, no supervision required once these kick in.
One requirement, really: flat bottoms. Most kitchens already have plenty of cookware that qualifies.
Stainless steel pots and pans
Ceramic cookware
Aluminium pots
Cast iron pans
A round-bottom karahi will not sit flat against the glass, and that ruins the even-heat benefit the whole design depends on. Total weight matters too, keep it under 10 kg to protect the surface and get proper heating. Even a full stockpot of biryani for a family gathering stays well inside that number.
Damp cloth, cooled surface, done. No scrubbing, no chemical cleaners, no fighting baked-on stains stuck in tight corners.
Grease still lands on this the way it would on any stove top, that part does not change. What changes is the cleanup afterward. A smooth ceramic-glass panel skips the grooves and burner rings that normally trap grime, so one wipe is genuinely enough to bring the whole surface back to looking new.
Runs on very little power: 1.5 units an hour, close to Rs. 100 for a full hour of continuous cooking. Cheaper than most people expect from an electric stove.
No gas needed, ever. Load shedding stops being a kitchen problem the moment this gets plugged in.
Safe for homes with children: the child lock and overheat protection cut down on the usual risks that come with an open flame.
Even heating across the whole pot: infrared spreads heat more evenly than a gas flame does, so food cooks consistently instead of burning in one spot.
Two colours to pick from, Royal Maroon and Smoke Grey, both built to fit a modern kitchen without standing out awkwardly.
